A four-key mobile for your child

January 01, 2013 Safecomm, an innovative GSM communication device, developed by Technopark-based Accentia Technologies, will soon hit stores across the country.
Worried about your child’s security when they are away from home? Still, reluctant to use modern equipment fearing misuse? Here comes a gadget that can keep your child a call away and also keep track of them. Safecomm, an innovative GSM communication device, developed by Technopark-based Accentia Technologies, will soon hit stores across the country.

Targeted at ‘vulnerable’ members of the family, this device can store only four numbers.

According to the developers, Safecomm is highly secure for children as the design lacks features such as display screen, facility to send or receive messages, camera or internet. Safecomm has two variants, one model with GPS facility and the other without GPS.

One of the important features of the device with GPS facility is that the parents can track the location and movements of children just by sending an SMS.

It returns the exact location where the kid is, at the point of sending the SMS. In order to equip the children with quick response during an emergency situation, Safecomm has an SOS button, which on activation dials all four numbers until one of them is answered.

On pressing the SOS button, message will be sent to all four numbers intimidating that the user needs help.

Pradeep Viswambharan, MD & CEO of Accentia Technologies Ltd, said, “The inspiration for Safecomm came from rising reports about crime against schoolchildren, girls and ladies. We wanted to come out with a solution where misusing mobiles can be avoided among school/college students.

Safecomm is a completely safe device for students at all levels and the parents will have total peace of mind even if they are away from their kids”.

Not just for children, Safecomm is a simple communication tool for elderly members of the family who find it difficult to use modern devices.

In addition to simple features, the SOS button will be helpful for senior citizens during emergency medical conditions. The price of Safecomm is `2,999. After its launch, which is tentatively fixed on November 15, the device will be available in all major retail outlets and mobile stores. It will be available on online markets too. Accentia Technologies is gearing up for its global launch soon.

In order to safeguard the user from unwanted calls, the hotkeys of the device are configured only through the principal user’s (parent’s) mobile phone. This single SIM phone has four different ring tones and separate flashes to indicate callers’ identity.
